Lt.William Beck SAVAGE missing and published as KIA 21st March 1981, died in the vicinity of Beaumeitz-Velu. He was attached to the 51st Bn. Machine Gun Corps. He originally joined up and joined the 20th Royal Fusileers.
He is remembered with Honor at Arras memorial.

He was in civilian life a RECOGNIZED Modernist PAINTER, WHO EXHIBITED HIS ART in London from 1906-1914. His work was praised in ‘The New Age’ and information on him or his works is requested for the Modernist Journals Project of the University of Tulsa.

Little is available on the 51st/ but clearly further research should be rewarding.
